The Meaning

The Death card represents transformation, endings that give way to new beginnings, and the shedding of what no longer serves your growth. In the Rainbow Botanical Tarot, this card channels the medicine of Angels Trumpet, a plant that opens the doors of perception and invites surrender to the unknown.

This is not a card of physical death. It is the death of identity, of patterns, of the stories we tell ourselves about who we must be. When Death appears, the invitation is to release your grip on the familiar and trust the dark passage between what was and what is becoming.

I allow the necessary death which gives birth to and allows me to become even more of who I am.

The Plant Medicine

Each plant was chosen for its specific healing properties and its relationship to the energy of this card.

  • Angels Trumpet
    Brugmansia
Opens perception, invites surrender. Traditionally used in ceremony to facilitate passage between worlds and states of consciousness.
  • Black Cohosh
    Actaea racemosa
Releases what is held too tightly. Supports transitions, eases passage through dark or constricted phases of transformation.
  • Rose
    Rosa
Heart medicine. Reminds us that love persists through every death and rebirth. The thorns teach us that beauty requires boundaries.
